Eligible health plan customers can use their OTC Network benefit to buy eligible items on Instacart.

Using your OTC Network card on Instacart

How to add your card

There are 2 ways to add your OTC Network card as a payment type.

Add a card from the eligibility email—

  1. Open the email from your provider.
  2. Select the Get Started button. If you don’t have an Instacart account, you need to create one first.
  3. Select Add card from the pop-up window.
  4. Enter your OTC Network card number, expiration date, CVV, then select Submit.

Add a card at checkout—

  1. Select OTC Network under Add payment method.
  2. Enter your OTC Network card number, expiration date, CVV (if applicable), and click Add payment method.

Remove an OTC Network card

On the app—

  1. Tap Account at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select Debit/Credit, PayPal, and more under Payment methods.
  4. Select the pencil icon in the top right corner.
  5. Select the red minus icon next to the payment method you want to remove.
  6. Select Delete.

On the website—

  1. Click the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner.
  2. Select Your account settings.
  3. Select Payment methods.
  4. Select Delete next to the payment method you want to remove.

How to check out

You must have a non-EBT backup card on file for authorization holds and non-OTC Network eligible items, which may include delivery and service fees, taxes, tips.

If you already added your OTC Network card—

  1. Select the cart icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Select the green Go to checkout button.
  3. Confirm your order details.
  4. Under Pay with, make sure you selected your OTC Network benefit and backup payment card. If not, select the payment method under Pay with.
  5. Make sure your OTC Network benefit toggled to green under Saved benefits to apply it to your order.
  6. Select Confirm payment method.
  7. On the Place Order page, confirm all information is correct. Select Place Order.

If you still need to add your OTC Network card—

  1. Select the cart icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Select the green Go to checkout button.
  3. Ensure your delivery address, delivery instructions, and delivery time are up to date.
  4. Select the payment method under Pay with.
  5. Select OTC or healthy food card under Add payment method.
  6. Enter your OTC Network card number and any other required information and select Save.
  7. Toggle your OTC Network benefit under Saved benefits to apply it to your order.
  8. Select Confirm payment method.
  9. On the Place Order page, confirm all information is correct.
  10. Select Place Order.

If you use your OTC Network card with another alternative payment method (ex. EBT or Fresh Funds), your refund goes back to the original payment method used.

We can’t issue refunds as credits or to another form of payment for these items.

Unable to checkout with your OTC Network card?

If your OTC Network card doesn’t work at checkout, your plan may not include Instacart in its eligible network. Please log in to your OTC Network member portal, OTC Network mobile app, or contact the number on the back of your OTC Network card to see if Instacart qualifies as a plan benefit.

Eligible items

Items eligible for this benefit feature an OTC Network tag. Fees may or may not be eligible, depending on your plan.

Benefit periods

Your OTC card charges on the delivery date for the cost of eligible items and fees, as determined by your plan. Orders placed in advance may fall into a new benefit period. For example, if you have monthly benefits and place an order on January 30 for delivery on February 2, eligible items and fees deduct from your February benefits period.

Additions and substitutions

Items added or substituted after checkout charge to your OTC card if you authorized sufficient funds, and items qualify as eligible under your plan. Ineligible items or fees, or additional costs charge to your backup payment methods.

Using OTC Network with EBT SNAP or Fresh Funds

You can use both an EBT SNAP and an OTC Network payment method, or Fresh Funds and an OTC Network payment method on the same order. OTC funds apply after your EBT SNAP card and/or Fresh Funds apply to eligible items.

Follow these steps to enable accessibility features.

In the app—

  1. Tap Account at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select Accessibility under App settings.
  4. Toggle the button to enable High contrast display preference.

On the website—

  1. Click the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner.
  2. Select Your account settings.
  3. Scroll down to Accessibility.
  4. Toggle the button to Enable high contrast colors and/or Enable extended display time for alerts.
